Have you ever painted the walls of your apartment even though you weren't supposed to?

Question:i reeeeeeeeeeeeeally want to pain this place..... do you think i'll get away with it? :o)

Answers:
I say paint it! You can always change it back when your lease/rental agreement is up.

Apartments usually get painted after you move out anyway!

Go ahead and paint it. I painted mine and to hell with em!
Use a lead-free paint. You can always repaint it to the original color before you move out.
go ahead and paint. i have. worst case scenario is that you don't get your security deposit back. or you can paint it back to original when you are ready to move. just take your time and dont get paint on the carpet and tile.
Please talk to your manager first. let them know that you will prime and paint it back before you move. Most apartments will paint it for you if you've been there for longer than a year or two.
If they say no, paint it anyway. but make sure to paint it back before you move. They can take you to court if your repair bill is more than your deposit.
Actually worst case is that they have it repainted after you move. Then take you to court to recover the cost.
The question is "how important is getting your deposit back?" You probably won't get it if you paint the walls.
Try painting one main wall a color its amazing what a little color will do.
If it is in the contract "not" to paint them, then I would not, unless I painted the same color and finish that was there already. I know, it sucks. But who would want to repaint before moving to get deposit back? It is hard enough to move, also you may need them for a reference one day.
I've painted an accent wall or two. Then painted it back when I got ready to move out.
