Clothes poles?

Question:Can anyone point me to a site to show how to make wooden clothes poles? Or give directions/measurements to make some?

Answers:
Certainly there are a few options, and depend on how much weight you'll hang.

Treated 4x4's buried like fence posts will work, and a cross piece near the top, bolted to the post.

Round will work as well.

2 inch plumbing pipe, threaded on top to accept a "T" fitting and extensions, also threaded.

A single pole out from the house, with attachments at the house allowing that you can remain there and use pulleys for the lines.

Measurements are relative to what you'll hang, and your ability to reach the lines you stretch. To bury clothes hanging posts you probably should go 3 ft deep, even add concrete. The span of the lines especially when full of damp laundry will also determine stress on the posts.

Couldn't you just measure how hong you need and get a big fat dowel from Home Depot? Or order one from IKEA - they're $8 each there.
