How can I convert my charcoal grill to a propane gas grill?
Question:
Answers:
I believe it would be cheaper (and wiser) to buy a gas grill rather than converting, if it is even possible. I have heard of people converting from propane to natural gas, but not from charcoal to gas. Charcoal grills are build so differently that I can't image the results would be good.
At any rate, good luck!
Forget it. Just go buy a new grill.
Unless you have one of those big old brick monstronsities in the back yard. In which case, you should skip the propane step and go right to gassification. You ought to contact a natural gas contractor who could install the necessary items inside the central area of your brick structure, and tap into the gas line feeding your home. If you don't have natural gas on your property, then the contractor should be able to provide a link to a propane tank - making sure it will not be too close to the BBQ.
I am sure you can just buy a cheap Gas Grill for about $125.00 and it will last you a few years easily.
If you go your way you are putting new parts into an old grill that will most likely not last as long to begin with.
Secondly, the parts alone will probably run about $60.00 or more, not to mention the headache of the labor involved.
In the end, you are paying about the same (Parts & Labor) for an old grill - for a few bucks more you have a new gas grill . don't even bother doing this, is my opinion.
the same way you can convert a refrigerator into a air conditioner, buy a new one:-)
