Why would the ground wires be cut in my house wiring?

Question:My old house has BX (metal) cable running through it. Later someone put in a 100A main box and ran 3 wire NM cable to junction boxes which then hook up to the BX. But, they didn't hook the ground wires to the boxes, or anything. In fact they cut them. Is there any reason this would have been done?

Answers:
Connect the ground wires to the boxes!
Check inside the service panel to make sure the ground wires from the NM cable are connected in there as well. If they're not, then connecting them at the boxes won't do any good.

sorry excuse for an electrician, you should report this guy to the BBB and to the state licensing board. Any craftsman that had any merit to him/her would have job like that inspected by county or city inspector.
BX had no ground, and used the neutral for ground. It is safe, and was a common practice. After all, the neutral and ground wires run to the same rod in the ground.
who ever installed the wiring didn't know what they were doing if possably you should strip whats there and hook up
Thb BX metal sheathing is the ground. This was & in many cases still is common practice, & is acceptable,
The BX is secured to the metal box, which in turn connects to the main panel which is grounded. If you want & there's enough wire, you can connect the ground wires, but it's not necessary.
Hope this helped, good luck!!
Of course, saved time, probably a contract job. I doubt if the average person would ever know the difference.
