Where can you get inexpensive fencing material?
Question:I live in the Raleigh, NC area. I need to purchase approx. 300 ft of 6ft dog eared boards - 6in
And if possible I would like to beat the prices of Lowes and Home Depot...
Answers:
If you do not have a salvage store near you, buy just the 6" boards and dog-ear them yourself with a saw. Check out the price difference between the cut and uncut shape. 300' of fence that needs repair in a year because of using cheap materials doe's not make sense to me. Sometimes you just have to bite the bullet.
hi
hd sell them for about $6.00 each
try a salvage yard
there a few in Durham and Raleigh
but might be more expensive
good luck
check some new housing project around
some builder buy old home and they have fences to remove
just a tough
honestly...cut a tree down..lol. It doesn't get much cheaper than the above mentioned.
Recycle used pallets
I got mine on Fences for Less on line. They beat the home improvement centers and installed them as well. Mine are cedar.
try lumber liquidators find it on line or in the phone book
look for a lumber mill, think the waltons, and buy the wood there. you will find them a lot cheaper than the h.d. and lowes. i bought about 400 board feet of lumber for repair work on the trim and roof sheathing for my house from one for about $60.00! well under what it would have cost for 1x4 and 1x6's from the others. good luck, hope this helps!
Try www.craigslist.org and shoose your state and city I found 100ft of dog ear fence for free just had to pick it up.
I agree with some who answer salvage, free just haul it away, and those kinds of ads are often found in your local classifieds; either online or newspaper.
You might also try looking for a nearby "Habitat for Humanity" "Thrift Store"
Not only are their materials donated, but purchasing them at a pretty fair price allows that the organizations object is supported.
