How do I use a tiling profile to undercut door frames to fit laminate flooring?
Question:
Answers:
The way that I have seen this done is to lay a piece of the laminate flooring down next to the door casing. Place your saw flat on the piece of laminate and saw a section of the door casing out so that when you lay your floor it will slide neatly under the casing.
You are right Derek. This is the best way to do this job
As number one suggests.
Take whatever pieces and parts that will make up the flooring and underlayment. Set that sample against the moldings, Run a line over whatever molding doesn't currently accomodate the raise in flooring, and with a back saw, or flat blade hand miter saw remove the piece that will allow the flooring to butt the walls etc.
"This Old House" recently did a segment using a tool designed for the purpose, but for a DIY it isn't a needed extra expense.
