How can I find out where mice are getting into my house?
Question:I keep trapping them, they keep falling in the potty, If I knew how they were getting in I would stuff brillo there.
Answers:
The best way is to get a pest control company to remove them and they will find the places they are coming in for you.
If not, you'll just have to move everything away from walls etc. and find the spots yourself.Use steel wool to plug the holes.
They can get in the smallest places you can imagine,so plug up everything in sight.
give mouse a name. and call them with their names. they will come up. i know its stupid, but has worked for me. :)
I had to call a pest removal company. They do an evaluation of the entire inside and outside of the house. Then, they put out blocks of killing bait wherever needed.
Thats a tough one.It only takes a fourth of an inch opening for a mouse to be able to squeeze into your house. The best Idea I have is to figure out where they are coming from first and taking care of the source at the source. Of course since you are finding them in the toilet they may be coming up from the sewers and that is a problem
OK Basically you need one WHOLE DAY to move everything...all the furniture, stove, fridge..look for holes everywhere, by pipes, radiators...get steel wool and sealant and close everything up! otherwise no matter how many traps you get they will still keep coming. Also, check your front door..if there is any space underneath they could be coming right under the door..so you would have to get some type of metal (not wood) to seal for under the door.
Good luck.also wash everything when you are done they leave droppings everywhere!
When I had a mouse problem, I just looked around for the hole in the wall. Primitive, but worked for me, cause it was in my garage, so i can find holes eaisliy
Do you have a crawl space under your house, or a basement? If you have a crawl space, be sure that all the vents are covered completely and tightly with wire mesh. If there are any torn corners or loose vent covers, that's likely where they are coming in. Your crawlspace is probably their nest. If you have a basement, and heat/vent ducts, they may be coming up from the basement through the ducts. They also come in around the small holes made for plumbing.
Your best bet is to hire an exterminator. They will do all the dirty work. Just be prepared for an ungodly stink when they put out the poison bait and the mice die.
