Quick & easy non-chemical fix for an extremely slow-draining bathroom sink?

Question:

Answers:
Use vinegar or lemon juice because of the strong acid in each. This should dissolve some of the clog. After this has set a while use a plunger to break it loose and then turn the water on to flush the clog on down. Another way is to get a drain auger at a hardware store. It is a long flexible rod that can be run down the drain to push out any clog. These are inexpensive and require no chemicals at all.

I JUST USED A WHOLE BOTTLE OF BAM DRAINS, THAT WORKED FANTASTIC
MAYB VINEGAR IF U WANT THE NO CHEMICAL
Why no chemical? Bleach works wonders on a slow drain. Just put in a half a gallon of bleach and wait till its drained then pour another half. It works great. Other methods are your plunger.
You could try using a toilet plunger on it.
If your sink has a pop-up stopper, you may be able to remove it and clean the hair and gunk off. Push down on the plunger to fully open the drain fully. Grab the top of the stopper and rotate gently counterclockwise. You may need to wiggle a bit. The stopper should come loose so you can lift it out. Pay attention to how the notch is located at the bottom so you can line it up to put it back in. Not all stoppers are removable this way, so if you get more than a little resistance when twisting it is best not to push it.
Bathroom sink drains are notorious for being slow running simply because of what gets put down the drain.
If your drain is slow running it's probably clogged with hair.
You have 2 non-chemical options:
1) with the sink bowl completely dry, take a piece of duct tape and completely cover the overflow drain holes that are near the top of the basin. Next run a fair amount of water into the sink and plunge it vigorously, you should see the gunk that's causing the problem being churned up from the drain.

After you do that, run hot water down the drain for a couple minutes, that should do the trick. If it doesn't ...

2) Get a bucket and a rag, and if you have some rubber gloves (helpful items) get down on the floor and remove the P-trap from the sink. The nuts that hold it together are usually only hand tight, but snug. Keep the bucket handy because the trap is going to be filled with probably foul-smelling goo. Empty the trap into the bucket, then take it to another sink and run hot water through it. You may have to stick your fingers in it to dislodge a serious clog--this is where the rubber gloves come in real handy!

After the trap seems clean dry it off and reassemble it in the bathroom. That should take care of the problem.

Just a quick word of caution: Don't smoke while you do this. There is a chance that there might be highly flammable sewer gas present in the pipe that leads to the sewer, or septic tank, whichever you have.
Better safe than sorry.

Good luck!

Pour 1 cup salt and 1 cup vinegar down the drain, followed by 3 cups of boiling water. Allow to sit for an hour. Then flush with cold water.

The natural chemical reaction will clean the pipes better than any drain cleaner you can get from the store.

And it's all natural!!
If your sink has a pop up stopper, than it's an easy and quick fix. Under your sink there is a pipe that the pop up stopper assembly attaches to. Unscrew the cap that holds this on and pull the pop up assembly straight out. It might be a little hard to do because it's usually tangles up in hair, but you can pull it out. Just let it hang there. Then remove the stopper from your sink by pulling it straight up. This too will be tangled with a lot of hair. Wrap all the hair in toilet paper, then pull it off and dispose of it. Put the stopper back in the sink. If it has a little opening for the assembly to go through, then make sure that is in the back. Re attach the pop up assembly and run some hot water to flush away any loose stuff in the drain.
I used the "old" container of Arm & Hammer from my fridge, along with about 2 cups of vinegar. Pour the baking soda into the drain...make sure you pour it INTO the drain...it will get in there and "set up" along with whatever's clogging the drain. On top of the baking soda...pour the vinegar. When the acid hits the base, it will foam up...bigtime. This foaming action can usually dislodge the clog. ~~ As far as a non-chemical solution...I like the plunger idea...but, be prepared for what may bubble up. Good luck.
Hanger, you have hair in the trap, pull it out with hooked hanger
buy a thing called a zipper. It is made from flexible plastic and has teeth on it to catch the clog, usually hair in the bathroom sink. Push it in all the way and then yank it back out. Worked in my daughter's sink. If worst comes to worst take apart the trap under the sink and clean it out and put it back together. You can buy a zipper at Wal Mart or any hardware store.
HOT vinegar - poor down drain -- handful of baking soda,
Have you checked the drain to see if there is lots of hair built up in there. That could be the only problem you have. Try that first before anything.
Just get a small plumbers snake.

I've cleaned hundreds of drains with one. It is the best first choice to clean a drain.
i tried everything for that save ur $ call roto rooter get coupons in phone book. good luck
take baking soda a teaspoon of ammonun with hot water
I have found the fastest, easiest way to unclog a sink is with a shop vac or wet/dry vacuum. If you don't have a stopper it's easy, just make sure your canister is empty and set up for water and then put your hose on the sink drain and turn it on, will work even if filled with water-it's great and so much easier than removing the trap under neath and way less time consuming than waiting for any chemicals or home made solutions. Most people own a shop vac too and don't own a pipe snake. If you have a stopper you may need to remove it first. This is a great solution because you are actualy removing the problem not just trying to flush it farther down the drain!
