Jack Kevorkian, M.D. (born Pontiac, Michigan to Armenian-American parents, May 20, 1928) is a controversial American pathologist. He is most noted for publicly championing a terminal patient's "right to die" and claims to have assisted at least 130 patients to that end. He is famous for his quotation, "dying is not a crime." Imprisoned in 1999, he served 8 years out of his 10-to-25-year prison sentence for second-degree murder in the 1998 poisoning of Thomas Youk, 52, of Oakland County, Michigan. Kevorkian is terminally ill and on 13 December 2006, authorities announced Kevorkian would be released from prison on June 1, 2007. The release came a week before the state of California was going to vote on the right-to-die resolution. The only other state that passed it at the time was Oregon.

He did not believe that in the case of terminally ill patients who are suffering a long angonizing pain of death that a hospital, doctor or family members should be able to Force you to stay alive. if that decision were to be made, it should not be made by another family member ( deciding to pull the plug) or a court, hospital / doctor deciding you have finally reached the point where we will let you die if that is God's will, par se. No he belived that decision should be made by a capable individual themself, not someone else, or some other entity.
His views were highly radical and against the establishment - he went to jail for practicing his beliefs - - I guess this is really the inverse of " the right to life" argument.

Jack Kevorkian was really famous a few years back as "Dr. Death." He used to be a doctor and a few of his patients, who had terminal illnesses that caused them to go through out-of-this-world pain, came to him and told him that they were suffering too much and wanted to die, and asked him if he'd help. So he put together a machine that would inject you with lethal poisoning if you got hooked up to it and pressed a button. He also helped people commit suicide by locking them in a car or room and putting a poisonous gas in there so they'd die. He went to court for it in the 90s and got charged with second-degree murder. To the public's surprise, the families of the ones who died actually supported him because in their opinion, he put their loved ones to peace instead of making them live in writhing agony.
