Has any-one used a heat gun on skirting boards with any sucess?

Don't waste your time, if you are trying to get 20 years of white paint off so you can have woodern skirting boards, it's not going to happen. Take them off and get new, the cost isn't that high and the amount of time and effort you save is loads.

Yes but be carefol not to stay in one area too long,and watch the floorboards. You can buy appropriate masks to avoid the fumes from B&Q etc. Also keep the room ventilated, Hope this helps and be careful.
