How to Build a smoker?
Question:I want to build a barbeque smoker. Anyone have plans?

I built one last year, I used a compressor tank for the main body and a smaller tank for the wood chamber. I studied the store bought models alot and then I researched a lot of online places also. the best advice I can give you is really think on size, larger size=more wood! damper on exhaust stack, damper on woodbox near bottom, DAMPER in between smoke and wood chambers! Get a good temp gauge to put on inlet side and outlet side of smoke chamber! also a weep hole in bottom for grease.
all you do is get the wood chips your gonna use (cedar or whatever) and get some of them good and wet. get a big sheet of tinfoil. in the foil put 1 part wet chips to 2 parts dry. wrap the foil up real good. take a fork and poke some holes in both sides. throw the whole thing on the hot side of the barbecue and wait for smoke.
About dot com has some answers for you, but a 55 gallon drum could work with a side burner box, or if you get a hot plate, and put it in the bottom of a new trash can, you could make a smoker. Charcoal grill with heat source on one side, and meat on the other, is a cheap and effective way also.
I don't know, but I just thought that I would tell you that I know someone who made one and they used an old hot water heater and it works great. In case you need an idea of what to use to make it.
please dont use a garbage can...they are gavanized and you dont want to be eating anything out of a garbage can that has been burnt...
I built all of mine from 55 gallon barrel drums.They are a little complicated to build and get them just right.I have been working on smokers for 10 years and have yet to perfect them totally.
