Building our son a sand / ball pit from our pond!! Help!?

Question:We have a 25ft x10ft long pond and are thinking of turning it into a half sand pit, half ball play area. I need advice on flooring (i.e waterproof, soft, thick), edging (protective, soft etc)and also where to buy a large amount of playsand at a decent price! i need about 1 tonne!. Thanks any tips or advce welcomed!

Answers:
Builders Merchants for the play sand just ring round for a good price, don't know how old your son is but use logic for safety. But please please cover it because cats love to s**t in it

not sure how to do it but just be aware that it will probably make a great home for ants, spiders, worms and so on also if there is not a secure lid then cats like them too
Wonder why you don't see sand boxes at playgrounds anymore? Cause they make the worlds best litter box. Cats from all over the neighborhood will love you.
Jewsons, or any builders merchants or garden centre will deliver a ton bag of play sand. Make sure you ask for a ton bag though.

Cover your sand and ball pit as it will be a haven for cats pooing in!

There aren't really many options for making it 'safe', the best way would be to use a pond liner and fill the whole thing with sand - scrap the ball pit part of it.
