Answers:
If you attempt to do on your own then consider two companies' products...Color Plus and Leatherique.
These two companies make dyes and other leather treatment products for saddles, auto interiors and other leather items. They are both very highly regarded by auto enthusiasts. (Colorplus is my favorite between them)
After looking at their websites call and ask questions. They'll be happy to help.
BTW, if anyone suggests shoe polish.forget it. It is very ineffective.
Note: you must follow the instructions very accurately, Especially when preparing the surface to accept the dye.

leather is dyed in a place called a tannery. it is a very difficult place to work the chemicals in the air are very harmful and the working conditions are poor. many people who have work in such a place suffered ill health for the rest of their life's.
for the most part the leather is now treated overseas
as for your couch i would suggest you talk to a shoe repair man as they are used to changing the colour of shoes for women as well they might be able to put you in touch with a skilled person who could change the colour of your couch.
Trust me on this one, hon - you'd only make it look worse. Leather can be dyed, but you can't entirely cover up the old color, and the result, whatever color you tried, would be nauseating. I've been a leathercrafter for 45 years...
