A local pool company wants me to pour in over 50 pounds of Balance Pack 100?
Question:This seems crazy to me.
Answers:
I found the link below and it gives a table of alkalinity increase per unit of balance pack 100. The units are in liters and kilograms. But, if I did the arithmetic correctly, for every 10,0000 gallons of water in your pool, the alkalinity is increased by 6.6 ppm per pound of balance pack 100. So 50 pounds in a 10,000 gallon pool will increase the alkalinity 333 ppm per 10,000 gallons. My pool is 20,000 gallons, so the impact would be 166ppm. It's a bit high unless you have let your alkalinity go to nearly zero.
Remember that alkalinity over time due to sunlight and chlorine converting the carbonate to CO2 which goes into the air. If you have had some hot days and have been behind on the chemicals.maybe?
Check this website and check my math. I only did a ballpark estimate.4 liters per gallon and 2.2 pounds per kilogram.
Sounds crazy to me too! Take a sample of your water to your local pool supply store. They will test it for free and let you know what needs to be done and tell you why!!!
Sounds like someone moved a decimal point, unless you're running a Water Park at your house. LOL
Ask them to do the dosage calculations again, giving the correct size and depth of your pool.
there is no way that is correct...
