I have a burks pump that was used as a well pump trying to use it as a pump for a garden hose supply?

Question:I have check valve power, I can not seem to get it to prime to the pump it has a pressure switch and another 1/8" copper tube coming out right above the inlet this came out of a house that switched to city system is this a feadback loop or ?

Answers:
Most burks pumps are not suppose to actually suck water they are suppose to be fed water..burks pumps are used on boilers to supply water under pressure to boiler to keep the water level up in boiler...the line you are refering to probably was used to prime pump or to help it get started.
