Wooden hinges are just about the most difficult thing to make with wood there is. It has to be shaped by carving, then fitting and drilling. Then turning the pins on a lathe. Maybe you can find them on line, try to Google wooden hinges. As to the board, normally billboard material that is to be painted in made with MDO, medium density overlay, plywood.
