What's a good way to open that new plastic type packaging without cutting yourself to bits?
Question:Things are being packaged in that thick super-sealed packaging that cannot be opened without cutting and it still seems to leave sharp edges. And then some scissors won't penetrate it.
Answers:
Some newer-packaged items are coming with little flaps at the top that separate and then you can sort of peel the packaging apart at the seams. Other than that, I have no clue...if anyone has a good solution to this problem, I'll be very impressed!
I've seen some openers advertised on TV. Pyranna is one example. Google on 'package opener'
Me, I use a heavy duty utility knife with the blade set just deep enough to cut through the plastic. Then I use every swear word known to man as I try to rip the damn thing asunder!
i know, i hate those packages, you can use a really sharp knife, they usually work, but i dk what else, if there is anything.
i like to use gardening shears... they're really sharp and can cut through really thick pieces of whatever.. they also have a good grip. if i find myself without them, i will usually pick a side and try to fold it back and forth for like ten minutes to form a tear either at the bottom or top. then with all my strength i yank and tear at that spot. Once that side is gone, i just separate the rest and try to grab at whatever item was originally in that horrible plastic container.
I use a pair of long-nosed tin snips that I stole from my husband!
Thank shoplifters for this wonderful non-biodegradable packaging!
Anyway, I keep a small piece of scrap wood around the house. Combined with the use of a carpet, or utility knife, that will usually do the trick. Just keep enough of the blade exposed to do what you need done. A slip could be very bloody, and very painful.
