Window air conditioners?
Question:Dear friends,
Can I use the window air conditioners inside the rooms without installing them in the windows, I mean just plug them in and turn them on inside the rooms without any contact with the outside?Thank you in advance, Rojin
Answers:
no
No, you must vent them to the outside.
No you can't. Window units draw in air from the outside and cool it off. If you were to walk by a window unit outside you would feel it blowing warm air outside. It must sit inside a window.
You can do it but it won't work very well. First off it will give off hot air from the back. Next it will need for the condensed water to drip someplace. They make in room a/c units these days that cost a bit more $$$ and need an external vent, but they were designed to do what you want. The other way wont really work.
Air conditioners are usually used in climates where humidity is undesirable. They are designed to remove humidity, and this humidity condenses and drains in a small stream of water. It is more feasible to hang the unit out the window so the user does not have to monitor the drainage. Also, window air conditioners are designed to be mounted to the house. Without the mounting, they will probably vibrate out of position over time. Older units will be noisy, and the noise is outside the closed window where it makes less bother. Depending on where you live, you may be able to find an indoor air conditioner that is self-contained in a cabinet, and/or wheeled for ease of relocation. Hope this helps.
No, as window air cond. need a place outside for the motor to run, thats what hangs outside!! also a venting problem. Much water drips from coil unit outside also, you will certainaly start a fire inside if you do this. By the way they NOW make special air cond that do not need outside venting ,I strongly suggest you purchace one to use.
We have a wrap around sun porch that was obviously installed after the house was built due to windows that would have originally been on the outside of the house. We do have an AC installed in one of these windows and it works well. But if we don't have some windows open on the sun porch with a couple of fans working to create a cross ventilization, the porch heats up terribly and has an affect on how well the AC actually works. Running it indoors would be counter-intuitive as the heat from the AC would off-set the cooling of the unit, leaving us in the same temp.
No, for various reasons - but look into getting a 'portable' a/c - or one that comes with a vent hose (like a dryer vent), or a 'split' a/c - with the compressor pump that goes outside and the cooled air is pumped to a fixed location.
Wow are you serious>>>?LOL
the air conditioner blows cool air out one side and hot air out the other side. There is more hot air blown than cool, because all the heat from the machinery is vented as well as the excess heat from the air.
It would heat the room.
you need to mount it in a window, or get a unit that has a vent hose, or a split unit with the compressor and condenser outside.
Sure you can. It will run just fine. Will it cool the room? No it won't.
no,the heat collected from the room will stay in the room, the back of the ac is supposed to go outside the window to let heat out,and the front to cool the room, you also need to let the moisture out .
