How can i get permanent black marker off my wall?
Question:My sister came over last night with my nephew and while we weren't paying attention he got a hold of a black permanent magic marker and drew all over my daughter's wall, dresser, door, and carpet. I don't know what to do. I have to figure something out though because I rent and I'll need my deposit back when I move out. HELP!
Answers:
Rubbing alcohol will remove permanent marker from most surfaces. On the solid surfaces, dampen a clean cloth with the alcohol and rub the stain gently.
For the carpet, wet the marker spots with alcohol, blot with a clean, dry sponge. Don't rub too much, as it will push the stain deeper. Repeat until the stain is gone. If it is really bad, you can use a rental carpet cleaner with the alcohol to help pull the stain out.
Magic Eraser will work on some surfaces as well, but it is a bit more work.
Mister Clean Magic Erasers...they are great!
Try the magic eraser on the dresser and walls,on the carpet your gonna need a solvent but be careful,it can loosen the adhesive on the back side of the carpet.Try this stuff called oops,it works on everything Ive ran across
have your sister paint your wall, dresser, door, and pay someone to clean the carpet.
For the wall, dresser, & door, don't waste money on the Magic Erasers - they are indeed great, but all they are is baking soda. Dip a damp cloth into some baking soda & rub - voila ! Works every time. (If you have matte paint, make sure the cloth is just barely damp- if it's too wet it wil leave water marks)
For the carpet, I like to use Woolite's Oxy spray. I haven't tried it on permanent marker, but it's gotten out red wine stains for me, which are pretty tough. Just spray well, let it sit for about 5 minutes, then rub gently with a damp cloth.
it sounds silly but it works!
FLY SPRAY
.try it...! Seriously, I heard about it on the radio & I tried it - I was amazed!
Follow any of steps sent to you by others but I highly doubt that the black marker will come completely off the wall, because the ink will have soaked into the plaster. Best thing you can do is get most of it off, then use something that will scratch the ink out of the plaster. From there you'll have to get some spackle, or filler and fix the surface. After that, repaint the area where the stain was.
You may be able to ask the landlord if he has the original paint so you can cover where the stain was perfectly.
I am a landlord and I know that things happen, especially where there are small children involved. If you tell him or her what happened and that you are willing to make the repair, you should be fine. We're not that bad of people!
Try Mr Clean Magic eraser. I have a 4 year old. try shout laundry spray on the carpet.
Mr. Clean magic eraser is great. Also, Spot Shot works well on the carpet.
Goof off is a product that works well on most items. Sometimes too well, lol. At a pro paint store there is also stuff that has an orange smell that is great for wiping down woodwork. I can not remember the exact name but I think Orange is in the name of it.
