About how much per square feet does it cost to build a deck using treated wood.?

Question:I'm looking to build a deck only 2 feet off the ground and just wondering the cost i'm looking at to purchase the wood from lowes or something like that.

Answers:
I am just about to build a 28 sq M. (91sq F. I think) deck and the timber (bought locally at a good price) cost £650. That's with 28 stilts, various joists, 54 deck lengths and 4 boxes of deck screws. I still have to buy ballast, cement, and other fixings, which should come to about £100. All of that is just for the actual deck, without balustrades, which will probably be about another £200 on top.

So that all works out at about £10.50 per sq F. (£33.90 per sq M)

Hope this helps you.

With all due respect taking measurements to Lowes or HD will allow that someone in service can not only work up a materials list, but pricing too. They offer this service in every HD I've ever been to.

If I was building the deck for example, I'd charge you probably between $25 and $40 per hour plus materials, and in some measure that would depend on prep work.

As a DIY both of those stores occasionally offer free weekend clinics, as well as free pamphlets describing the process.

Just a suggestion: I suggest also pricing decking composite materials, such as TREX brand or others. Over the long term I enjoy the fact that I have never gotten a call back.

Figuring how much a deck would be is done in linear feet, not square feet, since you are working with boards. Go to Lowes and tell them at the "pro" desk the length and width you wish to cover and how far off the ground it'll be, if it's to have railing, etc. And remember, if it's adjoining an exterior wall, you have to usually anchor it into the house, too. You're going to need pierings or pour concrete footers. Their CAD program on their computers can figure out total feet of every kind of board, hardware needed, etc.
Somewhere between $8-$10 this would include frame/decking/railings
Just a rough estimate
To do it yourself without getting really fancy it will cost you between 7 and 9 dollars per square foot, that incledes hardware and concrete for setting peers.
