Shower rail ! My bath has no walls at either end. Do you know a good shower rail that will accomodate this ?
Question:Help ! One side of my bath is against a wall. There are no walls at either end of the bath. Do you know a good shower rail that will accomodate this ? I am in the UK so only UK suppliers please. One solution I've found is too expensive at £125 - it's the 'Wall to Ceiling C Shape fixing (SRSS05)' which is the fifth product down from the top on this website :- http://www.splashdirect.com/acatalog/sta...
Do you have a cheaper solution from another UK supplier ? Or an alternative DIY idea ?
Answers:
I bought a house in the US that had a similar design.
The ones I found were hung from the ceiling and were a complete loop around the tub. But they were really expensive and too small.
What I ended up doing was to buy two straight shower curtain rods. I hung one from the ceiling the length of the tub, then cut the other one and did the same for the end. I anchored end of each rod to the wall with the normal plate, but the other end I hung from the ceiling using a plate that is used as a plumbing pipe stand off. I'll try to describe the parts.
1. A plate that has a 3/8" threaded hole in the middle. This has four screw holes and is screwed into the ceiling, facing downward.
2. A short (4") piece of 3/8" threaded rod (all-thread). This connects the plate (above) and the clamp (below).
3. A set of C-shaped pole clamps, one of which has a 3/8" thread opening in it. This is clamped over the end of the pole.
If I didn't explain it enough, or want pictures, e-mail me.
I'll take pictures of what I did and e-mail them to you.
I think it worked out OK. I could have done better, but it is a rental and I don't care _that_ much. :)
try using a l bracket that has a hook on it i had the same problem in my closet it was to long for standard poles people use them for hanging baskets too. try a hardware store ill try are souce it for you so you can see what i mean
