I need to fix my roof! what can i do?
Question:There is water dripping of my porches roof what do you guys think i should do? thankz

I agree with most of the other writers. If it is leaking through your roof, and the shingles don't look bad it is perhaps best to just try and replance the shingle(s) causing the leak. I NEVER reccomend using tar as a fix. It gets messy for one, and can compound a roof leaking for 2. Sometimes the roof may not be leaking from the spot where the water is coming down, but rather leaking from further up the roof. Water follows the path of least resistance, and that could be whats happening there. Your best bet is to call in a professional. People whom have done this for years really have a great eye for this kind of thing. Hope this helps, good luck. (don't be afraid to get multiple opinions, I know I have repaired more than 1 leak for free when looking at a job I thought I was going to get) Remember 1 thing about home depot, a lot of times they have a little imput about a lot of differant varieties, but never specialize in any one thing. If they were roofers wouldnt they be on a roof instead of working at a home depot for far less money?

How do the shingles look. If they are nice and smooth with their inert particles still on them, you might want to get a repair. If they are buckled, bulging, missing the top surface, its time to replace the whole thing. Can do this yourself, may even be able to put new roof over old but it's still a lot of hard work.
Why wouldn't you want water dripping OFF your porch roof. Do you mean it is dripping "through" your porch roof? If it is dripping through the roof, go get yourself a cheap can of rubber roof cement and spread on the roof where you suspect the leak is. Then watch for leaks the next time it rains. Other than that, if it has shingles, you might need to invest in a small reroofing job.
go to Home Depot or any home based place & ask them, they have a whole store full of building stuff, from tarps for a short term fix, to the tar paper & shingles to do it yourself.
It really isn't that hard, just hot in summer,
re-shingle it and put down the tarp over that and keep it up every year to see if that is holding up good enough for that year and so you wont haft to redo this over and over again.
save money now and do it right so you wont haft to replace the whole thing later.
sounds good?
i think it does
