Installing a light fixture with a transformer... noise problem ..?

Question:I have installed a light fixture with a transformer and it is making this loud buzzing noise.

1- Did i install it wrong? (But the lights worked for a while.. when i did the final installation it stopped working.. may be a wire got loose or something? Would the lights work if the installation was wrong? Buzzing continues even though the light does not work. I shut it off for now to be safe...)

2- Is it normal for a transformer to make a loud buzzing noise?

3- I bundled up all the black cables(4 wires going into individual branches) from the fixture and connected to what i thought was black cable into transformer and i bundled up all white wires(4 wires) and connected to white cable into transformer. I made sure no black wires touch black wires...If i connected the wires wrong terminal into transformer.. wouyld that contribute to loud noise??

4- How would i know if the transformer was damaged by a faulty installation?

Thanks alot.

Answers:
If it is buzzing you have it wired wrong in the first place. If it is hot re-wire it, if the wire you are using is aluminum wire, change it out to copper, make sure your breaker is big enough to carry the load, on the transformer box it will let you know how big the breaker should be. white to white if that is the hot lead, black to black and make sure it is grounded, you also need to make sure the switch is not a dimmer switch , some do not work very well with a transformer

It is not in any way how you installed it. It may be that you have the wrong lamps in but even that is less likely than it is simply a cheap ballast.
By transformer do you mean Ballast for a Fluorescent? OR is this something that operates series lighting as in low voltage? Or Track?

If you wired it incorrectly it wouldn't function, or at best might trip the breaker.

Also not knowing the voltage output of the transformer IE: Door Bell... and it's conversion from 110, most transformers HUM to a degree. They also are sold with less than 100% quality control occasionally.

The best test might be at the transformer/ballast itself. Certainly one must assume you have some knowledge and skill level, in the install and following any given instructions.
