How do you calculate square footage?

Question:

Answers:
Length multiplied by width equals square footage.

length x width
Say you have a room that is 10 ft. by 7 ft.>>>Multiply 10x7. Your answer is 70 sq. ft.
multiply width by length e.g. if a room is 10ft by 8ft then room is 80sq ft
LxW ect 12ft x 12 ft=144 sq ft.
Multiply the length by the width.
e.g. a room is 6m long and 3m wide
6x3=9, so the area of the floor is 9m square.

On the other hand, 3 squared is 3x3=9
Square foot figuring is length times width.

To give a general idea, a room 10 foot long by 10 foot wide is 100 Square feet.

A square foot is really only 12 inches by 12 inch square, how many of those fit on the floor (or wall, ceiling or whatever you need to measure)

There are 144 Square inches in a Square foot. You can round your figures (the room is 10 foot 7 inches long, so you can use 11 foot) to get a pretty close estimate.

However, to get it exactly on the money, convert all your feet to inches, a room 10 foot 7 inches wide and 9 foot 5 inches long would convert to 127 inches wide times 113 inches would give you 14351 square inches, then you take your 144 (that is how many square inches in a square foot) into the 14351 and that would give you 99.65 square feet.
length x width is square footage
and if it's 3D it would be length x width x height (i think)
Simple width times length is fine if your room is conveniently square or rectangular.

If it is another shape -- L-shaped perhaps, or with bays sticking out -- then divide it into rectangles, calculate these separately, and add them together.

Or, if the figure doesn't have to be too accurate (such as for paint coverage), just guess an average length and width.

Simple floor area may not be right for some purposes. For example, for carpeting or vinyl you need the maximum dimensions, as you will be cutting bits off -- perhaps quite big ones.
Length times width=square footage.
Square footage is achieved by multiplying lenght by width
eg: 4ftX4ft =16sq feet any problems use the calculator on your computer.
P.S I wonder who gave all the answers right or wrong the thumbs down.
measure the lenth and width of a room, length times the width=square feet.
With a CALCULATOR! LOL Seriously, Length X Width.
