Can I tile over old tile around pool edge?

Question:I had my pool remarcited two years ago, I could not afford to replace the tile or the coping. I was wondering if I can put new tile over the old one without removing it. If it is possible, what kind of mortar to use. Also can you put new coping over the old one? Both, existing tile and coping are secure attached but pretty ugly. Any suggestions?

Answers:
yes you can first score the old tiles with an angle grinder to 'key' the surface to allow grip of WATERPROOF tile adhesive.if the old ones are lifting you have to remove them or you're wasting time and money
hope this helps

Unless it is some kind of funky glass tile or something then yes you can. It should say on the setting mats what kind of sub floor you can have.
yes you can unless it is a glass tile. use mapei keracrete. http://www.mapei.com/mapeiamericas/en/pr...
