What can I use to dye white canvas shoes an ivory color?
Question:
Answers:
there are 2 things that I can suggest:
you can use coffee or tea to "stain" the shoes to the desired color you would like (it has to be brewed coffee or tea)
or you can go to the store and purchase Rit dye in the color of your choice and follow the directions on the package.
don't be cheap get a new one
yes,rit dye is the only real answer that is effective,,,
Here's a cheap fix:
First give the shoes a vinegar wash using water and regular old white vinegar. Let the shoes dry, then give them a tea bath. Yep, make some tea and let them sit in it a while. Now, you want to be careful about how long, so after the first 15 minutes take the shoes out and look at them . Remember that they will be a couple of shades lighter when they dry. If they aren't dark enough put them back in for 15 more minutes, etc. When they look like they'll be a nice off-white shade after drying give them a spin in your washer and let them dry. This should do the trick. Also, you might want to run them through the dryer for a bit to help the color set. The great part of this is that when they fade you can just do it again.
