How to... on Window Blinds?
Question:Buying a new house. Will need to do blinds throughout the house, like a 2" horizontal. Seems simple enough to hang, and I've watched people walk-in at the local Big Box hardware store and have them cut on the spot. However, I am perusing the Big Box store's web pages and it seems I am lost!!
Before comitting 100% to doing-it-myself, I want to experiment on one window. The window opening is 42.5" x 42.5". The blinds will be hung inside the opening. What size stock blind am I looking for if they are going to cut it? Will your recommended size have excess length? What do you do about removing it if it is extreme?
One last questions... If we want to do a crown valance on some, but not all... where do you get these?
Answers:
You want a 45" wide by I think it comes 45" long. They're going to cut it to 42" (1/4" shorter on either side) and then when you get home and get it hung, which is really easy, you will take the bottom off and then take out as many sats as you need to shorten it up. Instructions are in the box.
Hope that helps.
I would buy a 42 by 60 blind nad hang it, then I would carefully remove the bottom portion that is not needed.
You can usually buy crown valances at any good upholstery shop.
