I need a pattern to turn an old concert t-shirt into a fitted halter?

Question:I have an old Metallica shirt that's too big for me waist-wise, and I want to turn it into a fitted halter top. Any ideas where I can get a pattern to do so?

Answers:
Cool idea. Don't have a simple answer of go here and find it. But I believe you can do it yourself. If you came up with the vision you should be able to follow through with it.

A halter is a "V" which ties behind your neck attached to a "___" which ties around your middle. Get an old ugly t-shirt, like at the good-will store and try cutting it apart first.

I'd start by taking off the neck band and removing the sleeves. Then put what's left on and mark the point of the "v" how deeply plunging do you want the neck line to go. Then cut down to that point and carve out the "v" back up to the neck line.

Cut down from the arm holes to the "tie waist" line. Then comes the tricky part, because you need to make ties that will be long enough to make a bow/knot. So I'd make two "ties" that run from that cut from the arm hole all the way around the back to the other arm hole cut. One "tie" will be cut slightly above the other, but the soft t-shirt fabric will allow it to work.

Next cut down the back from the shoulders to the waist tie cuts to make the ties for around your neck. You'll need to cut away the excess but that should make a functional halter. Good luck, and again, cool idea!

Wal-Mart or any fabric store will have a patterns sheets that you can buy.
