Repairing stained wood furniture?

Question:An air freshener leaked onto my dining room table and ruined the finish. How do I fix this?

Answers:
I would refinish the whole top to keep the color consistent.

Lightly sand the damaged area then stain if needed. Get some wipe in polly and put at least three coats on with a soft rag.
Chances are the the solvents in the air freshener have attacked the finish,
If the finish has not been "eaten" & has just turned white , might just try applying a furniture oil to the spot to feed it & then a pastewaxing.
Worth a try & can't hurt anything.
It is a bear to try to match an existing finish, esp if you start messing around w/ sandpaper.
If it is an expensive table & the rest of the finish is in good shape, search for a spot refinishing service.
They come to your home & do the work then & there.
Not inexpensive but cheaper than having the whole top redone without the risk of getting a mediocre DIY result.
Best regards
