What kind of fabric would I use?

Question:I am wanting to make a mattress pad for a toddler bed. I need to know what fabric would be best to use for the side the child would lay on? (bedwetting prob). I need it to be as inconspicuous as possible so she can take with her to sleepovers and such. One side would be fleecy blanket material, but am at a loss for knowing what to use for the the other side, that would be either waterproof or absorbant

Answers:
maybe man made vinyl?

There are nylons that are water resistent, ask the people at the fabric store for what they have in stock.
polyester face - silk fill (holds a lot of water) backing vinyl or urethane coated fabric -- sometimes a high count fabric sprayed with scotch-guard.

If silk fill is hard to find - cotton fill can be used. You will be shocked on how good silk is.
what about a fabric shower curtain? They come in all colors and designs.
