Can paint underneath vinyl turn it pink?

Question:I want to vinyl my laundry room , over painted concrete. Someone told me that eventually the oils from the paint will bleed through and turn the vinyl pink. Is this true? If it is true the only solution would be to strip it, I but I am allergic to chemicals.

Answers:
yep, it is true! True that it could happen, not that it will happen. In 20 years there is a slight chance that you will notice a pink tint to your vinyl. When it annoys you enough, replace it.

The only pink vinyl that I have seen has been mildew behind vinyl wallcovering.
i seen vinyl discolor because someone used the wrong type of adheisive underneath
Applying a primer (stain blocking) over the wall would most likely take care of any potential bleeding problems. Most likely, any staining/ bleeding through the vinyl is more a factor of the moisture potentially trapped behind the vinyl and its reaction to the chemicals in the concrete, not of the actual paint film releasing "oils".If you have a "hot pink" wall to start with or any vibrant color that could show through the vinyl then priming would also be a good idea.
Try the primer trick. Or are you allergic to the chemicals in the paint as well?
I would not try to strip it as the chemicals would be caustic. Yes the oils could potentially bleed through. I've had good luck using zinsser on concrete to block stains. For your problem you will need not only a stain blocker but also a sealer. Make sure when your buying the sealer/stain blocker that it is made to be applied to concrete surfaces, as many are made for wood or dry wall. Also be sure that you will later be able to apply vinyl adhesive on top of the product you use. Kilz & Cabot are two other names that make similar products.
It's true but will take some years for this to happen. You could always see if you could buy a product to seal the surface first.
