I have a really plain fireplace and I am interested in possibly tiling around it myself.?

Question:I've never done this type of project. Any ideas for how and what to do to complete this project?

Answers:
Go to Lowe's or Home Depot and talk to the tile people. Tile is a great DIY project that will not cost that much money. In our fireplace showroom I picked through several boxes of slate and pulled out the ones with the most color and put them around one fireplace. Even with no mantel it looks great and the tiles were only $1.50! Good luck!

If you have never worked with tile, I would suggest to hire it done...By the time you rent the tools you need, you could have paid for a professional...
Sounds like a fun project. Check in at the big box store to get info or a class on doing tile.
