Firstly, wait until it's really windy. I mean, REALLY windy. Then go outside and stand in the middle of your garden in full view of the neighbours and then throw your arms aloft in the craziest circular motion until thew hurt.

Go on a day trip to the seaside and buy a handful. If you want them as bird scarers forget windmills, modern birds don't recognise them, try making little flags instead... or old CDs - DVDs hanging on string.
