Fix sash window...?

Question:Hi,

I want to fix the top part of a sash window... it is supposed to be fixed but in my case, it went down 1 in or so (then now I can't lock the window and there is air passing through). How do I fix this problem and have the top sash window remain at the very top ?

Answers:
The top sash will go up. Just push harder, but only on the wood sides, or the bottom of the top sash. Once there, you should be able to lock it. If it slides down each time, put a nail or screw in just under the top sash into the jamb. This should keep the top sash closed.
