I'm not exactly an interior decorator but I'd love to be some day. anyways.. I think that a soft blue color (like baby blue or something) would go nice witha chocolate brown color. you could have 1 set of walls that are parallel to each other be a solid blue, and then the other set could be chocolate brown and baby blue stripes ( or whatever the color of blue is) or have something along the lines of that, only have the walls be a solid color with the opposite color in circles.

here is a picture of a piece of bedding I found on the internet. You may not like the style or anything, but those are the colors I am talking about. (at least the blue and brown colors anyways).

Alot of really popular combinations with chocolate brown right now are lavenders & purples, greens, and shades of turquoise- even reds, like burgandy, wine, rust, cherry... Chocolate brown really seems to be the new black in the world of interiors- it goes with so much.

By comfy chair in front of your dresser- are you refering to a kind of lounge chair/arm chair or a small vanity seat? You could always go to the Salvation Army or troll garage sales for a seat that fits your needs and looks comfy- it doesn't matter what it looks like as long as its in good/safe condition. You can reupholster it or make a seat cover for it with a coordinating cloth, bedsheet or throw blanket.

I'm a big fan of storage ottomans- you can get wicker basket looking ones- leather, suede, fake-suede, courderoy... You can hide everything from out of season sandals, books & cds, makeup and curling irons, or bar bells in them. They can be used as additional seating or side tables. Anything you can find multiple uses for is a good thing.

DECLUTTER- that is often the best redo that can be done for any room. Keep only the toys, trophies and souveneirs that absolutely mean the world to you- donate the rest; corral your favorite photos on a single corkboard that you can decorate with ribbons...

I love the decorating tips you can find on HGTV & in RealSimple magazine.
does your mom know about the brown? painting over that would be an issue in the future if she is planning on selling the home. my daughter wanted to do checkered squares on the walls. hot pink and black and i had an issue with that. so we went white. and got black drapes. got rid of the flowered furniture got a black dresser with a very nice mirror for 395 at l fish furniture scratch and dent. got a new mattress and boxspring with no headboard. got some posters and framed them in black frames from walmart. she already had black nd white bedding. went on target.com and got a solid black rug. she took one of those square table/ottoman for her bedside table from the living room. she already had some heavy duty shelving that is white and we got some black baskets for it for the little stuff. and i put a new ceiling fan in her room and moved the old one out to the kitchen ( i didnt care for the one in there that came with the house). so she got the privacy and bedroom of her dreams and i moved her to the other side of the house and got my privacy too. black and white were the colors we used. worked out to be a very sleek and upscale uban look. she is one happy camper.
i think
cool colors i like
1. a soft purple and a dark purple
with white accesories
( a very girly look,fun,for any age)
2.nice aqua blue ,or like a blue that matches the color of water.with dark brown furniture and white bownr and green accersories.
(creates a soothing ,fresh look, i think this theme is for a mature person)
3.chocolate brown and grey.with lots of lights.uhm red burgany and bown and cream accesories and funiture.(a mature room as well)

u should by things that double for uses.its alot cheaper.
like a sofa bed.to change for a living room look to a bed room.
Or
you could buy a nice texture throw rug.prefferably a rectangle shape not to big. and hang it up on the wall for decoration.

i dunno.try ikea.com
their website is pretty good.but their stores are amazing.if theirs one near you take a look.

hope i was helpful
Ooh! A chocolate brown wall is soooo versatile! You can do lots with it now while you want young and fun, then when you're ready for a more grown up look you can just change out your accessories.

There are three types of color combinations:
~Monotone: different shades of the same color
~Analogous: 2-6 colors next to each other on the color wheel
~Triad: three colors based on the primary tones of red, yellow and blue
~Complimentary: colors opposite each other on the color wheel

A monotone color scheme would add taupe, ivory, tan, etc. to your chocolate wall. This tends to work well when you're going for a "spa" theme, which fits your comfortable requirement, but NOT colorful or totally awesome.

An analogous color scheme based on your chocolate brown could go for a Tuscan theme, with browns, golds and rich reds. Again, kind of a spa theme, kind of old for a 15 year old's room.

A triad would use chocolate brown, purple and green. With the intensity of the brown, it could be overpowering. If you stuck with the 60-30-10 rule you'd be okay. 60% of the room in your main color, 30% in your secondary color and 10% in your accent color. You could paint the other three walls in a lighter green or purple, highlight with the chocolate wall and accent with the green or purple, whichever isn't on the walls. Your room may be too small to handle a bold treatment like this. Three colors can be too much in a small space.

A complimentary color scheme would bring in blue, the color opposite brown on the color wheel. I think this would probably be the best choice for your room. Choose a fun blue that you like, something bright and use it as an accent color. You could do blue polka dots, or stripes... even both. A little bit of blue paint could spark up your dresser, your bed, etc. The brown/blue combination is popular right now, so you should be able to find some really great decorating ideas.

Once you've chosen your colors, evaluate what you have. What can you paint and reuse? Your tired old dresser could look sweet with a fresh coat of paint. That book case in the den could come into your room for more storage. Add some great baskets (plastic, wire mesh, wicker, you choose) to hold your stuff and you've got organization.

For a comfy chair, try a bean bag. They're pretty inexpensive and you can customize your cover by choosing from several different designs. Or if you're handy with a sewing machine, you can make your own.

In fact, if you can handle a sewing machine, you can cheaply re-do your room. New curtains, seat cushions, a runner for your dresser, all can be easily sewn. Check Wal-Mart or Joanne Fabrics for good deals.

^Without seeing your room or knowing what your into, it's hard to give specific ideas, also not knowing what you mean by not having a lot of money. But I can give you some general ideas. Also make sure you have your parent's permission, before you do anything.

Painting is one of the least expensive ways to redo a room.

If you can draw or know someone who can, you or they can draw an outline on your walls and you can color them in. You can also get stencils to do this.

Be careful of color, if your room is small as you say and you paint it chocolate brown, (which is a nice color) or any dark color, the room will feel smaller, to make the room look larger, use light and/or bright colors. If you do chocolate brown put a large mirror on that wall, the mirror will give you the you the illusion of a somewhat larger room or put it right across from the dark wall.

A good place to find things that are less expensive are garage sales, (not sheets) and flea markets, you can find them in your local paper, go with your parents, they can make sure the item is okay, fairly priced and they can drive it home.

Another tip on painting if you go to a store like Home Depot, in the paint department they have color charts which are free take them home and you can decide what colors will look good in your room before you buy the paint. If you or your mom have a sewing box with a lot of different colors of thread you can check out color combinations that way as well.

I'm giving you a few sites below that can help, please check them out, they can help you decide. Good luck and I hope you enjoy decorating as much as I do.
Maybe you can get your hands on some wood - make a basic "Window seat" and put hinges on the top so you'll have storage also.

For painting the walls I'd consider " Faux Painting" 'casue that can be really cool.

Maybe you'll have extra wood that you can make a square out of it. Have dad use his router to make diamond shapes all about it like a border - inset the diamonds into the wood. Put a picture in the center and hang it - stain and finish before you mount the picture.

Make your own pillows, make a mini entertainment center just for your room size and mount it into the wall so it won't take up a lot of room. Maybe for a TV and movies, CDs, and some books and stuff ( trophies).
How about Brown Suede by Ralph Loren. I did it and it came out terrific and everyone loves it. I did 2 walls brown and one wall a suede buff color and and the other like vanilla ice cream this was reg flat paint. I would be very careful not to go too dark on opposite wall of chocolate wall cause it will reflex a darker color. Ralph Loren has the best paint chips.
whatever u like
