I was wondering what the cost of galvanized steel - this exact texture and magnetic quality might be? I hope Home Depot or Lowe's has it!

My own view is that galvanized steel would look ugly; stainless steel, however, would do nicely. Take some measurements, and then get down to the store and talk to someone in their kitchen department. Without sizes, no one can say much of anything.
That type of backsplash is available from the companies that do tin ceiling tiles. It's available in many designs and metal finishes. Lowe's has several styles, but you'll have more selection through the internet at this website. Here's the link for their backsplashes.

Looks fine if you like it and that is all that counts--looks cool to me. Thought you were talking the corregated stuff--my brother had it on his kitchen ceiling and around the island, and it did look a little weird. You pic though is showing flat galvanized metal, which is cheap--simply is roll flashing you can find in the aisle where guttering and roofing may be. Since it is steel with a galvanized (zinc plating) finish, magnets will stick easily. The roll flashing comes in fairly long lengths, and different widths.
the prices will be so high there. it is highly magnetic and there are lots of textures. look in the yellow pages for steel suppliers and you will be very astonished in the prices that you will see. i work with metal everyday welding and i laugh at lowe' and the depot at there prices 3 ft or angle iron is 12 bucks there i can get at a steel supplier at 20 bucks for 20 feet
