I wan to DIY my own cupboard, where can i get wooden planks?
Question:
Answers:
home depot or local hardware store.
It depends on the type of Cupboard:
and whether or not we're speaking of Cabinets.
A face-framed cabinet is usually constructed out of 3/4" sheet goods (M.D.F. or particle board) and then a "Face" is made out of hardwood {tree with leaves} (Red Alder or Beach or Oak or Maple).
The task can be involved (require many types of tools) or may be a simple casing type frame, depending upon personal taste and/or budget.
Another type of cabinet is refered to as a "European Style" cabinet.
For this cabinet you would construct the carcass with MDF or Wheatboard very simillar to a face frame, but the front edges will be visible when you open the doors because the doors ARE the face of the cabinet.
Usually, these cabinets are veneered (covered with a thin layer of fine wood) because the carcass itself is not very pleasing to the eye and will probably be seen.
You can almost everything you need at Home Depot or Lowes, except maybe the hardwood and posibly the veneer.
Do a search for hardwood suppliers or lumber yards and then visit them to see their stock and shop for a good price.
Hope that helps.
