How to prevent an window ac to not freeze?
Question:i have a ac in my third floor window every time i turn it on for more than a few min it starts to ice over

As they said, the coils are dirty. If you have it checked, and they tell you it was low on freon, make sure they fix the leak!! A window A.C. is "hermatically sealed" which means that the freon CANNOT escape unless there is a leak! If it needs gas, it needs the hole repaired, or they will be back to "add a little gas" with regularity!!!
coil is dirty, reducing airflow...hose it off
yep clean it out or have someone check it for freon more than likey its low and dirty
Low on freon or it needs to be sprayed with the hose to clean it.
Definitely give it a good cleaning by removing it and using a hose or compressed air to blow out the coils. If it still freezes, you are most likely low on coolant. But before having some one work on it, get some quotes on the cost. It may be less expensive to buy a new one. Especially if it is an older unit, a new one would save electricity because it would be more energy efficient.
A window a/c's condensor coil will never freeze over if it's low on freon. If the coil isn't getting enough airflow over it that will make it freeze which can be caused by yes, a dirty coil, filter, or clogged air intake (on the evaporator coil, or the cold side). Also, if it's a unit that you had in another room/house, and you decided to put it on your third floor which was smaller, you might be over doing it with the cooling capacity. You can tell by the BTU rating of the unit or you can check the temperature drop accross the coil by 1) measure air intake temp 2) measure the temp of the supply air. It should be about 20-25 degrees difference in a room with ambient temp around 70. (in too small of a room the temp will drop to quickly in the coil and the humidity will instantly freeze on the coil)
