If I apply the Heat Control window film on the outside of the window, would it have the same result as inside
Question:Would it reduce more heat if I do on both sides? How much more effective? (Because it will cost twice)
Answers:
The short answer is YES.
However; the real difference between doing the film on the inside and outside has more to do with the weathering aspects of the film and the UV inhibitors that most quality window films have built into the adhesives and film itself.
The solar properties work either way.
The exposed film will get wet outside, never inside. .and again the UV is coming in the opposite direction when the film is placed on the exterior.
So YES it will work but the film will degrade outside rather quickly as opposed to lifetime warranty on the interior. This exterior application is used with anti graffiti films and some exterior applications when you can not reach the inside glass (like between floors in an office building- Spandrel glass)
It would be wrong way around. The sticky side is the reflecting side and made for sticking from inside so it can reflect sun back outside. And do not need to put twice because it wont work, just look for type that has the most % for sun reflection ability.
You will have problems with it staying on the exterior of the glass. If you are applying the film to a window with insulated glass (two pieces of glass with an airspace), the film can cause heat to build up inside of the insulated unit and get a seal failure causing condensation to form inside. Putting the film on the outside will help to alleviate this problem, but won't last.
All glass manufacturers will void the warranty if film is applied to glass.
