A big fabric place will carry replacement pieces in their "findings" section. They have the handle part that clips on the zipper slider pried open. Slip it on to the zipper slider loop where the old part was and pinch the open part until it closes around the loop of the slider. That is what a seamstress or tailor would do. It is not rocket science.

try a paper clip. that should be able to fit through and stand up to the tension.
Sorry, you're screwed. PS: quit pulling on your little thing.
you can call your local dry cleaners, might be able to replace it for you, for a few bucks... I just had a zipper replaced on a good pair of black slacks, and it cost like 8 bucks...better than replacing the pants, which cost 60bucks,lol!
Or a local sew shop(Seemtris)...shouldnt cost that much...
You can put a key chain in the hole, the round hoop kind.

It also can be repaired at the dry cleaners or tailor.
Hardly a stupid question Ace! It happens to the best of us. Try a large paperclip. Thread it through the hole and Voila! You can zip away.
put a safety pin in it. it looks dorky but it works!
I used a paper clip .It works great . They come in different colors too now !
Good Luck .
try the paper clip or a twisty tie from a loaf of bread, this is also a good solution for pants zippers that won't stay up
Try using a paper clip and don't bend it out of shape when you slip wire on one side through the hole. The paper clip will be sturdy enough to do what you need.
safety pins work great. Anything metal and thin is good for a short term solution. A hat pin or embroidery needle will do if you have access to them. I'm not sure what would work for a permanent fix.
If you want something more permanent than a paper clip, try a small key ring. As long as you dont leave the jacket wet for a long time, the key ring wont rust.
you don't....but will keep a eye on this one....have a drawer full of them...lol
Here's a cheap do-it-yourself fix. Get a small metal or plastic-coated metal paper clip, slip it through the hole in the zipper, and pull. Not too cool-looking though, unless you're a punk. If the hole is big enough you could try a small key-ring. The final solution is to get a hoodie with a decent zipper. I buy hoodies in bright colours from www.blankclothing.com.au and dem zippers are really sturdy - haven't broken one yet and I've got heaps of them for winter. Same site also has links for "findings", all the garment bits and pieces you can imagine - including sterling silver ones that won't rust.
Best thing to do, if there is still a hole to work with. Here it goes, are you ready for this. Attach the little things that you use for cell phones. Every one has one hanging from there phone. Choose any one you want.
Good Luck.
use a paper clip for now or ring from a key chain they both will work.
the thing to pull up the zipper broke off in my daughter's jacket too and i suggested that she wear another one but she really liked this one and wouldn't change. i grabbed one of the tie wraps and slid it inside the hole. i didn't pull it all the way thru and left a ring so she can easily pull it up or down. it has survived another winter and it didn't poke her small hands
