Window airconditioners?
Question:my 17yr daughter's room is upstairs and is very hot. she wants to put a window air conditioner in her room. what do we need to know on how to buy the right one and how to put it in.??
Answers:
You should take the size of the room with you when you purchase the unit and consider the power supply by the window you are planning to install the A/C unit in.
Is there 220V or 115V near the window? Another consideration is what is below the window? A/C units drip condensate water so whatever is below it will need to be considered.
Note: When you install the unit tilt it slightly to the outside so the water will not run into the room or down the wall.

Meassure the window-a small unit will do just fine and will only require a regular outlet. it's pretty easy and will only take two people-be careful about not having the unit fall out the window.
Measure the size of the room both length and width and height. Then when you go to the store to purchase the unit there should be a chart that will tell you how big a unit you need for that size room. You may also have the size of any windows to make sure the unit will fit the opening. Also make sure you have an outlet near the window to plug the unit into.
Mauser the window
on the box it should tell you the aproximate square footage of the room it should cool. when it comes in the box it comes with a spacer for your window. also measure the window bc they come in different sizes. i put one in at work didnt take long.
You should consider the size of room as to how many horsepower you should buy. Usually, a 10sqm room needs 1 hp air conditioner. the bigger the room the more power you need to keep it cool and doesnt give much struggle to the ac.
As to installing the ac, you will need a mason, somebody who will fix it on the wall, and an electrician to give the needed power supply to the ac.
hope this helps.
