How can i install an electric socket and lights in my attic?

Question:

Answers:
Get an Electrician -

what's black and hangs from the ceiling? an amateur electrician..if you have to ask the question...don't do it.
Run a extention lead up there and use lamps.
Best to let an electrician do it, unless you are able yourself. My husband ran a cable up off of an existing socket on my landing, that works fine.
definately get a spark, dont play with electricity unless you want to burn your house down
If you want to do it yourself you need to run a wire that is on a breaker (I suggest its own breaker) to the attic. Mount two boxes, one for the light and the other for the switch.

Run the wire through the switch box and then to the light box. It can be just one romex type wire with a black, white and ground in it (#12). Make sure you make the wires long instead of short (this is very important).

Hook up the light normal. Cut the black wire (power) in your switch box and connect each end to the switch. Turn on the power, install a light bulb and you're done.

Email me if you need more info.
From what I understand now only a qualified electrician is allowed to install sockets (UK) so either get one or get qualified.
Listen to "dedrat" I think you will find recent legislation means only qualified electricians can install power points, you may be prepared to risk it, but, you will likely find insurers will probably not pay out if you blow it.
The safest way for you would be
an extension lead and torch
if u look in the attic under that ichy stuff you find electric cables they are for your landing and bedroom and barthroom
get sum electric cable and wire off them but buy a electric split box from yor local diy store and add it on the cable all ready there and put ur cable on othere side run it arond where u want it sort cable wires out running around the roof off the beams there u go lectric in a atic :P

(switch electric Off before Doing it )

and if u dont no wot to do do it and get sum 1 ealse turn lectric back on lol haha

NA if u dont no wot to do Dont Do it :)
I'm sorry I can't tell you ,coz if you get it wrong I don't want to feel responsible for you killing yourself or burning your house down.
If you don't know how to do it don't try leave it to the pro's.
you do not need a qualified electrician to wire anything in your own house otherwise b&q and wickes would not be able to sell sockets and cables but then again not using one would be stupid
As answered before if you have asked this question then you are not up to the job so get in somebody that is
any cables already in the attic will only be lighting cables and can be used for the lights
cables for sockets will not normally be in the attic as they will be under the floorboards on the first floor so you will have to run them from there up the wall to the attic
do not attempt any of the previous attempted answers as they do not help you one bit except those that say get an electrician he can advise and/or do the work for you
if you can do it your self

you will need
2 nail on outlet box's
1 nail on round ceiling box
14/2 romax
1 switch with face plate
1 15 amp outlet with face plate
4 or 5 yellow wire nuts
light fixture

1locate a stud near your pull down stare case
nail the 2 nail on boxes onto the stud one above the other about a foot apart from each other

2 you will have to locate a continuous hot (prob in a j-box close to where you are installing but it could be anywhere)

3 you will run this hot (after you turn the power off) and run it into your first nail on box this will be your outlet from the top of the outlet box run wire to 2nd box your switch from that box run wire to light fixture box

4 on the outlet box connect line (hot) to the screws on the outlet black to line side white to neutral side

5 on the top half of outlet connect as same going to the switch (black to line side) (white to neutral side)

6 In your switch the hot (black wire will connect to the line side of the switch) white to white

7 the black wire going to the light fixture will connect to the other screw on the switch

8 connect grounds to grounds

If it sounds to much call a electrican
When you have seen as many bodge jobs as I have of people who think they can do it themselves you realise this is just not the place to try to advise someone what to do. Electricity is dangerous and there are rules and regulations of what you can and cannot do. That is why it is better left to a bona fide electrician.
If you have to ask, you more than likely need an electrician
