I just bought some wood to make various projects, what substance can I coat it with to prevent drying out?


Question:It will be seevral month if not a year before I gett o use it so I want to protect it from drying

Why wood you want wet wood?? I always use dry wood, the dryer the better to work with.. That's why they kiln dry wood, to get the moisture out....


Any home store can help you with that. Some type of wood treatment. There are several kinds.
What's wrong with it drying out ?
At this point, you want to keep it from getting wet. Find a way to store it laying flat where it will not get stepped on. It will be fine. I have used untreated wood over 100 years after it was cut.
i think you will want to stack the wood on stickers and try to keep it at the same humidity level as where you will be using it.
