How to make a small hanging tin man for my garden?! Help!!?
Question:I am looking to make a hand made hanging tin man out of cans I have around the house for my yard...the reason being because they are rather expensive to buy pre made and I'm sure I can accomplish making one on my own. I'm curious though as to how I would fit the cans together to make the tin man's body?? I've included a link to show you an example of the type of tin man I'm interested in making

I hope you could be of help to me as my husband isn't much at all! =)

I've done this and have one hanging from my deck. Try this:
Begin with a large coffee can for the body. Drill one hole in the top, and one on each side large enough for a wire coat hanger to go thru.
Next, you'll need five soup cans and four soup cans that would fit inside those. One of the larger soup cans will be the head. Drill one hole into the top of that.
Drill one hole into the side, near the bottom, of two of the large soup cans. These will become arms.
Drill into the bottom of the other 2 large cans for the legs.
Drill into the bottom of the 4 smaller cans.
You may want to paint all of the cans at this point.
Once dry, it's time for assembly. You'll need wire coat hangers. Take one and pass it thru the "head" and "body". At each end, make a hook (one for hanging the tinman and one for attaching the legs).
Take other pieces of hanger and thread the smaller cans thru the large cans and attach it all inside the "body".
A little imagination and experimentation and this tinman is ready for your garden.
Good Luck!
I would probably try to drill small holes wire the pieces together. Good Luck
