Answers:
combat
get the lil hotels and the squirt tube

safer than sprays

There is a gel made by combat. Put it in caps under all sinks, corners any where you can set it behind something and you will see dead one.
Boric Acid. It's actually an antiseptic, so low toxicity (unless you're a roach). It's a powder and you sprinkle it along your walls and in and under your cabinets. Apply it, and in a week or two, no more roaches.

Here's a sight with more info, including a place to order it if you can't find it at a local hardware store.

Regarding boric acid... it is effective, but it is toxic to people and animals unless diluted to a weakness that will not kill roaches. Therefore, make sure to only use the powder behind appliances, furniture, etc, where no pets or children can reach it.
