Window AC unit install question?
Question:I'm planning on installing it to a wall (but not the outside one). It's in the attic so the other side of the wall is still in the house where the insulation is at, the venting area. (I'm hoping I'm making sense.)
Anyway, what I plan to do is have it drain to the water pipes and vent the air by maybe wrapping the end of the ac unit and funneling it to an outside vent.
I'm not even sure if this is possible but what do you guys think?
Thanks!

This is possible, but not with the AC units that I think that you are considering using.
What you need to use are a ducted portable air conditioner. There are 2 air ducts, 1 draws air from outside, the other sends the warm air from the unit back to the outside. Condensate is captured in a bucket / drain pan.
I don't know if it's possible either but it sounds like something I would try too.
It's possible, and you seem to have it covered. Now do it and let us know how it went.
unless your starting a fungus and mildew farm , do something else please.
If you cannot install the unit in an outside wall, you will definitely need to duct it to outside air. It will not work properly if all it has to exchange air with is the ambient air in the remainder of the attic space. You will have wasted the cost of the window AC unit.
If I understand this correctly, you will be drawing air from your attic through the unit to cool the room. This should not pose a problem.
You should drain the condensation to the outside. Make sure you have a large enough pipe and enough slope to drain properly. If this pipe gets clogged, the water will ruin the ceiling drywall below it.
Nope, you'll just have continual problems. You need lots of ventilation for the coils, a hot attic is not the place. If you funnel the air out, you'd need quite a large funney--too small and you'll overheat your unit. Most A/Cs don't have a good drainage system, they just drip out along the drip tray when it is full. So you'd need to really get a large pan to place underneath in order to catch the water vapor.
don't try this, for some of the reasons that the others have given, and you will be pumping hot moist air into the attic so the air conditioner won't cool off (bad for it), and all of that moisture will be bad for the house (attic). see if you can buy a wall sleeve for an a/c unit and install it to the outside in that. what you are proposing is only going to cause you big headaches and massive repair bills. there has to be a better way to cool that room, good luck.
Remember to install horizontally and rear tilted 10 mm downward so that water can be drained thro. the hole. In the humid area you may need to install a basin with drain pipe beneath the ac. If your way of venting air causes low performance, you may need to install an exhaust fan at the end of the outside vent to improve the cooling of ac.
I WILL VOTE NO ALSO AND I HAVE HAD EXPERIENCE TRYING TO MAKE AC S WORK IN DIFFICULT SITUATIONS. IF YOU ASKED ME TO DO IT, I WOULD HAVE TO TELL YOU I WOULD NOT WASTE MY TIME. IF YOU WERE TO BE ABLE TO MAKE IT WORK/RUN, I PREDICT IT WOULD CUT OUT FREQUENTLY DUE TO OVERHEATING UNTIL FINALLY THE COMPRESSOR FAILED.
