Am i now COMPLETELY SAFE after disconnecting the Sparkplug Wire of Lawnmower before cleaning Blade area?
Question:Curious.By disconnecting the sparkplug wire from the sparkplug is it now safe for me to lean the mower up and start cleaning under the lawnmower or is there other potential dangers of it accidentally starting?
Answers:
There is no way for it to start and run if the spark plug wire is off.
Just don't cut your hand on the blade or bash your knuckles while reaching under there - then you will be COMPLETELY SAFE.
Yes, if the wire can be positively held away from the plug.
That's a good safety precaution.
Additionally, if it has an electric start, be sure to disconnect the NEGATIVE or GROUND on the battery and then it can't start. :)
I would think as long as you don't pull the cord the mower wont start, but ya that's a good start. Also you could wait until the mower runs out of gas, that would pretty much ensure your safe.
It is better to remove the spark plug. Be careful not to tip the mower over with gas in it. It is better to put it up on bricks or something than tipping it over.
Not unless it is battery start. (Then someone could push the START button) But if that is not gonna happen, you is safe.
if you remove the plug, it would be better, since it could not start or run without it. then you can replace the plug with a new one when you are done, change the oil and air filter, sharpen the blade and it'll be good as new. good luck, happy cutting!
just buy a new one
You will be absolutely fine with turning mower on side without removing plug wire. It will not accidentally start on you. Have you ever seen a lawnmower spontaneously start without pullng the cord? I havent either. I clean mine after every time I cut and have never had a roblem in over 20 years of this practice. The only possible danger you may incur is possibly cutting hand on blade, but you'll be fine.
