take a wooden barrel drive three inch screws into the barrel 1 inch and aerate the whole neighborhood.
i'd just rent one or buy one, they aren't much either way. you can get one that is powered like a small lawnmower, or a tow unit that you would pull with the lawn tractor. home depot rents the gas powered one for $77.00 a day, $54.00 for 4 hours, go in with the neighbors and you could do 4 or 5 lawns and split the day rate. good luck.

You can buy an attachment that fits on your lawnmower by removing the blade..
if you have acess to a pice of pipe pvc would work drive some small rods in to it so it sticks about 1-2 in on both sides and then put a pipe in it fill with concret and use a small chain a couple of leingths longer than the pipe and fit a rope on to each end and pull it will work my friend did this and it works fine
