If I want to Build my own House / Duplex Can I..?

Question:Can I build it in stages?
So when finances permit me to do the next step, can I build over 5 or 10 years?
Example:
Say I have the money to Buy the block of Land today.
Ok I am building a Duplex - so 6 months later, I have the money to poor the slab for both sides of the Duplex. It then might take me 2 years to build the walls out of zego walls, then it might take me another 6months to build the roof, then another 2 years to Buy a Kitchen and Bathroom, then 1 more year to Finish the one side of this duplex.

OK now after I finish the one side of the duplex, It takes me 12 months to start the whole process again with the other side, in the same order and remember it is on the other side of the wall!

Land is in Bunderberg Qld

Answers:
You may have to buy permits again for work not finished.
If you can, frame it up and seal it up all at once, or you will have bats, squirrels, wasps, etc looking for a home.
It sounds like a huge project if you don't have the money right now.

Well, why don't you buy the land and use that as collateral and get a construction loan to build it? Then you can have income from the duplex to pay the mortgage.

Remember PERMITTING AND INSPECTIONS.

I do not know of any insurance company that would insure at the rate you are planning to build. Plus building them separately would be much more expensive that two both kitchens at once, bathrooms at once. The bigger the job the better the deal.

When a tradesman bids on a job, it has to be enough work to make the job worth while. You can do what you are best at and hire the most technical work done. IT DOES HAVE TO BE INSPECTED at certain stages to be legal.
