Electric wiring ...?

Question:anyone know why a live wire might burn out - its in my immersion cap.

and maybe what to do to replace it.

Answers:
generally wires will only burn out if the connection is loose or being overloaded. i would say in this instance it is more than likely that the wire is loose, to replace you need to isloate the immersion heater remove cap undo connections marking which ones go where then trim wire to remove all burnt insulation and damaged flex then re wire as noted connections then switch back on immersion and all should be good!! to be doubly safe however i would also seek the expertise of a spark tocheck there is no underlying problem and also make sure you use heat resistant flex for wiring the immersion

steve
